OpenAI Launches GPT-Rosalind for Life Sciences
OpenAI introduces GPT-Rosalind, a specialized model family for life sciences research.
OpenAI has shipped GPT-Rosalind, a family of models designed specifically for life sciences research. These models are tailored to assist research teams in synthesizing evidence, reasoning across biological data, and coordinating workflows with scientific tools, literature, databases, and specialist models. GPT-Rosalind supports a range of applications including genomics and sequencing analysis, protein and sequence analysis, medicinal chemistry, literature synthesis, wet-lab troubleshooting, and experiment planning. Access to GPT-Rosalind is available to eligible organizations with Enterprise or Business agreements through OpenAI’s trusted-access program, and academic labs in the U.S. can apply via the Rosalind Academic Plan. According to OpenAI, GPT-Rosalind combines specialized biological reasoning with scientific tool use to enhance target research and everyday scientific work. The model is not currently available through Amazon Bedrock (AWS), and access is limited to approved users subject to safety and compliance requirements. OpenAI emphasizes that the Rosalind Research tier, which includes GPT-6 Rosalind Research and GPT-5.5 Rosalind Research, is intended for frontier biological work, while the Rosalind Discovery tier supports everyday scientific tasks with stricter monitoring and safeguards.
